1380 HWY 2 WEST
It’s official! Flathead Gymnastics Academy has purchased a new facility! Over the years many people have asked the question, “So when are you going to expand?” FGA now has an answer!
FGA Owners David and Keeley Tighe have had their sights on the building at 1380 Hwy 2 West for about two and a half years (since it first went on the market). Since their original interest in the building, they also explored what it would look like to build FGA in another location. After about a year of investment into that building project, they discovered the full cost of building a new gym was much higher than anticipated. In October 2019, David and Keeley revisited the building at 1380 Hwy 2 W. They made an offer and it was accepted! Since that point, they examined the building and its viability on multiple fronts before finally closing on the property early February 2020. If everything goes according to plan, FGA will be moving into the new facility and running by June 2020!
Over the next couple of months, the building will be going through a few renovations in order to bring it up to code and gain occupancy. Sparing a tremendous amount of details, this process includes demolishing a few walls, installing a sprinkler system, and adding bathrooms, officially turning this former beverage distribution center into a gymnastics academy.
Flathead Gymnastics Academy is currently running out of 7,400 square feet. The current space has been a wonderful facility, giving plenty of room to grow over the last 30 years. FGA has had athletes grow and graduate, develop great gymnastics, and discover the fun and value of movement. As students have grown, so has the business and it has become time to expand. This new property will bring FGA’s square footage to ~22,000 square feet. FGA will be going from 14 parking spaces at the current location to 66 parking spaces at the new facility. Viewing areas will triple. Bathrooms for athletes will be brand new and there will also be individual restrooms. Office space will improve drastically, allowing for future growth. Movement space will grow from its current 5,500 square feet to ~18,000 square feet in the new building. This will allow Flathead Gymnastics Academy to have separate spaces for Preschool Gymnastics, Developmental Gymnastics, Extreme Gymnastics, and Team Gymnastics. Other conveniences played a role in the final decision as well, such as ease of access from the bypass and the building’s adjacency to Rails to Trails for clientele and walking access.
The manual labor portion of this move is the next big step, but an overwhelming amount of effort has already been put into this purchase. There are many people to thank for such an overwhelming blessing. In-short, FGA Owners David and Keeley Tighe would like to thank FGA’s extremely supportive clientele, all the folks at Hammerquist and Casalegno Construction Management, Jackola Engineering and Design, Rod Leese and the staff at Trail West Bank, and Amy Bain-Wilson with Glacier Sotheby’s for making this purchase a reality. David and Keeley love being in the Flathead Valley. It is a gorgeous place to live, but more importantly, the people here are what make it a wonderful community to work with and serve. FGA cannot thank you all enough!
See you in the NEW gym!
